Obituary of Leonard Douglas "Doug" Johnson

Leonard Douglas “Doug” Johnson, 80, of Munford, AL passed away at his home on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. His family will receive friends at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega. Mr. Johnson was a native of Munford, AL. He graduated from Munford High School, and immediately joined the United States Air Force after graduation. He was stationed in England during the Vietnam War. Mr. Johnson retired from Anniston Army Depot after over thirty years of service during which time he traveled all around the world. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid tournament angler. He was a member of the Anniston Bassmasters and was even a competitive archer for a few years. He absolutely loved living at his home which he referred to as “the farm”. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. It always gave him great happiness to brag on them to friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard C. and Grace Johnson, and sister, Linda Tinney. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lyndia Johnson; children, Julie Johnson Allison (Michael) and Jay Johnson (Lynn); grandchildren, Collin Allison, Caleb Allison, Tayler Johnson, and Ayden Johnson, and a host of nieces and nephews. Jim Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Landon Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Corby Tinney, and Jerry Martin will serve as honorary pallbearers. Online condolences may be offered at www.usreyfuneralhome.com.
