Obituary of Donald Ray Free

Donald Ray Free, 66, of Talladega, AL passed away in Anniston, AL on Monday, October 30, 2023. A graveside ceremony will be held in his honor at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, November 03, 2023 at Alpine Baptist Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends at Alpine Baptist Church for one hour prior to the service. Mr. Free was a native of Anniston, AL but had lived in Talladega for the last 22 years. He was a retired butcher who worked at many grocery stores throughout Alabama and Georgia. He was an avid University of Alabama fan and a member of Alpine Baptist Church. Mr. Free was a loving husband, brother, and uncle who especially enjoyed spending time with his special “Baby Girl”, Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents, C.B. and Jean Free, and brother, Steve Free. Mr. Free is survived by his wife of 41 years, Teresa Free; sisters, Tammy (Donny) Steelman and Pam (John) Dingler; brothers, Dennis (Judy) Free, Jerry Free, and Tim (Pam) Free; sister-in-law, Jennifer (Gary) Parton, and a host of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Free’s family asks that donations be made in his honor to Alpine Baptist Church, Treasurer, P.O. Box 77, Alpine, AL 35014.
