Mr. Jerry Wayne “Buckshot” McKay, 54, of Steele, Alabama, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023. Mr. McKay was a 1988 graduate of Ashville High School. He was preceded in death by his father, Rick Wayne McKay; grandparents, Grace and Eldon McKay and Carl and Lena Simmons; grandson, Isaiah Paul McKay; uncle, Jimmy McKay; and great-nephew, Troy Alan McKay. He is survived by his wife, Melissa McKay; sons, Wesley McKay and Nick Woodruff (Hillarie); daughter, Talia Mayhall (James); grandchildren, Keira Rose McKay, Lily Woodruff, and Weston Woodruff; mother, Linda Jeanette McKay; brother, Roger McKay (Vicki); mother-in-law, Mary Nance; brother-in-law, David Beckenstein; uncles, Donald McKay (Christine), Robert McKay (Gina), and Randy McKay Sr. (Gayle); aunts, Deborah Hudgins and Marie McKay; nephews, Dale McKay (Samantha), and Cody McKay; and a host of friends and family that will forever cherish his memory. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023, at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023, at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City with Paul Alexander officiating. Interment will follow at Reeves Grove Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Alan Horton, Tim Turnbow, Jeff Lowe, Scott Pruitt, David Tidwell, and Donnie McKay. Alternate pallbearers are James Mayhall and Corey McKay.
