Obituary of Victor Eugene Perkins

Victor Eugene Perkins, 79, of Talladega passed away at his home on Monday, September 11, 2023. A memorial service will be held in his honor 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Cragdale Baptist Church with Sam Walker and Larry Wells officiating. His family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Mr. Perkins was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega, AL. He attended Talladega High School where he was a member of the football team and graduated in 1962. He was employed at Goodyear for several years before he became a truck driver. He drove a truck over the road as an owner/operator for 39 years. He loved meeting all of the new people over the years. Mr. Perkins was a member of Cragdale Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a member of the men’s Sunday school class. He was an avid cook who enjoyed barbecuing and camping in his motor home. Mr. Perkins was a very loving husband, father and grandfather whose grandson affectionately called him “Da”. He also loved his French bulldog, Leroy, who was a very special part of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Raymond Perkins, and brother, Ray Perkins. Mr. Perkins is survived by his wife, Nancy McLemore Perkins; son, Michael Reed (Tammy) Perkins; grandson, Jayson Perkins; sister, Brenda (Lynn) Scott, and brothers, Jerry (Layla) Perkins and Dennis (Gail) Perkins. The men’s Sunday school class of Cragdale Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Perkin’s family asks that donations be made in his memory to Cragdale Baptist Church, C/O Sandra Jones, 75 Chappell Lane, Talladega, AL 35160.
