Obituary of Catherine J. Watson Cone

Catherine Jarrett Watson Cone, 90, of Sylacauga, AL passed peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 03, 2023. A graveside service will be held in her honor at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 06, 2023 at Pine Hill Memorial Park with Corey Harris officiating. Born July 24, 1933 to Thomas Gilbert Jarrett and Maggie Lapier Jarrett, Catherine was raised in Sylacauga and attended B.B. Comer Memorial High School where she graduated in 1951. She went on to earn her nursing degree from Sylacauga School of Nursing in 1953. During her time in nursing school, she was also a member of the basketball team. She was a registered nurse for 45 years and retired from Regional Medical Center in Anniston, AL. Mrs. Watson was a member at Meadowbrook Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, hummingbirds, and was a diehard fan of University of Alabama athletics. She had a tenacious spirit; nothing could stop her once she set her mind to it. Her sense of optimism, ambition and generosity were felt by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and both husbands; Bobby Joe Watson and Claude Milton Cone. Mrs. Watson is survived by her children; Robert Joseph Watson (Lou Ann), Clayton Lee Watson, and Patricia Ann Watson; grandchildren, Kim Robison, Anna Robison, Josh Robison, Jodie Robison, Casey Nichols, and Bobby Watson; great-grandchildren, Victoria Riyazi, Elijah Wright, Andrew Wright, Olivia Robison, Cody Sehi, Kolton Robison, and Konner Robison, and great-great-grandchildren, Tuff Sehi, Izaiah Wright and Olive Wright. Mrs. Watson’s final years were improved beyond measure by her extraordinary care team members, Lisa Sanders, Martie Staten, Deborah Sanders, and Ebony Patterson. Robert Watson, Bobby Watson, Kyle Smith, Clarence Haynes, David Edwards, and Mike Simonovich will serve as pallbearers. Her grandson, Josh Robinson, her great-grandsons, and her great-great grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
