Obituary of Annie Mae Thomas

Annie Mae Thomas, 86, of Munford, AL passed away at her home on Thursday, August 17, 2023. A funeral ceremony will be held in her honor at 5:00 P.M. on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega with Danny Cotton officiating. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow directly after the services at Winterboro Baptist Cemetery. Some of Annie Mae’s fondest memories as a child were growing up in Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Sylacauga where she gave her life to the Lord. She served God alongside her parents, siblings and others as they built Mount Vernon. At Mount Vernon, she and Edmond Thomas became childhood friends. Little did they know that they would become high school sweethearts and later marry. Annie Mae served God as she grew older. Even though she wondered away from God at times, she found her way back. She and Edmond served at Shiloh Baptist Church in Waldo for 25 years. Annie Mae served as pianist. She worked many years at Brecon Knitting Mills and gained many friends. Annie Mae was preceded in death by her husband of almost 57 years, Edmond Thomas; son, William Joseph Thomas; parents, Alvin and Annie Maude Giddens; brothers, Curtis Giddens and Melvin Giddens; sisters, Vivian Giddens and Betty Jean Giddens, and grandson-in-law, Nick Bower. Mrs. Thomas is survived by her son, James “Jimmy” Thomas (Susie); daughter, Kimbra Dagle; grandchildren, Jennifer Petrosky (Martin), Amanda Thomas (Lee Shergold), Jesse Thomas, Ginny (Jason) Daniel, Cathryn Smith, Ann Bower, Seth Thomas (Lillie Holderfield); great-grandchildren, Breanna Petrosky, Ethan Blankenship, Aiden Blankenship, Ashley Petrosky, Brayden Dagle, Krisslyn Smith, Karley Smith, Levi Hannah, Aubry Smith, Alyona Thomas, Kyran Shergold, Chloe Shergold, Ayden Shergold, and soon to be born, Baby Lincoln Thomas; sisters, Alveline Chandler, Joyce Stoudenmire (Johnny), and Annie Ruddy. Jesse Thomas, Seth Thomas, Brayden Dagle, Lee Shergold, Johnny Stoudenmire, and Martin Petrosky will serve as pallbearers. Ethan Blankenship, Aiden Blankenship, Levi Hannah, and Jason Daniel will serve as honorary pallbearers. She left a life of happiness and joy to join God and her parents, brothers, sisters, and son with the hope of her family joining her someday in her heavenly home.
