Obituary of Margaret Lois McKay

Margaret Lois McKay, 86, of Talladega passed away on Tuesday, August 08, 2023. A funeral ceremony will be held in her honor at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Cherry Street Church of God with Steven Uptain and John Waites officiating. Her family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. prior to the service. Interment will follow directly after the services at Pine Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. McKay was a native of Talladega and a member of Cherry Street Church of God. She retired from Southwest Motor Freight where she drove a truck as a team with her husband, John. She was an amazing cook who’s favorite food was fried chicken. She would always jokingly say that she was going to turn into a chicken one day. Mrs. McKay was the epitome of a loving supermom and granny. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lewis McKay Sr., parents, Jefferson Alexander and Iona Lois Williams, and brother, Bobby Williams. Mrs. McKay is survived by her sons, John Lewis McKay Jr. (Lanetta), David Alexander McKay (Joyce), Timothy Levon McKay (Karen), and Joe Delbert McKay (Lisa); 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Venyard Williams (Martha); sisters, Betty Willingham (Sam) and Tonye Briscoe, and a multitude of other family members and friends. Austin McKay, Curtis McKay, Michael McKay, Jonathan McKay, Benjamin McKay, Tyler Uptain, and Isaac Uptain will serve as pallbearers. Online condolences may be offered at www.usreyfuneralhome.com.
