Obituary of Gregory Eugene Ensley, Sr.

Gregory Eugene Ensley Sr., a lifelong resident of Pell City, AL, was called to his heavenly home on July 9, 2023, at the age of 71 years old. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home - Pell City. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home - Pell City with Brother Don Shirk officiating. Burial will follow at St. Clair Memorial Gardens. Greg Ensley is survived by his wife, Beverly Ensley, his children, William Lynn Shipman and Charles Stacey Shipman, his brothers, Gerald Ensley, Jim Ensley, and Joey Ensley, his sister, Sharon Roach, his grandchildren, Cody Ramsey, Andrew Shipman, and Keri Shipman, and by 3 great-grandchildren. Greg is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Ensley and Ruth Ensley, his son, Gregory Eugene Ensley Jr. or “little Greg”, and his brothers, Eddie Ensley, Paul Ensley, and Arthur “Butch” Ensley. Greg was born in Pell City to Dewey Edward Ensley and Ruth Everly Pike Ensley on May 30, 1952. He married Beverly Ensley on June 30, 1984, in Beulah, Georgia. He was a small business owner of “Greg Services” for 35 years in Pell City. Greg loved many and many loved him. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His hobbies included anything outdoors from gardening to hunting and fishing. He attended church at Pell City Bible Methodist. Greg always wanted to help advance the research for cancer; therefore, he would want donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the place of flowers.
