Obituary of Mildred Dobson Goray

Mildred Dobson Goray, 92 of Talladega was born February 14, 1931, and passed away July 7, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Monday July 10, 2023, at Hepzibah Baptist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Randy Hagan, Beaver Tinsley, and Justin Millikan will officiate the services. Her family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega Sunday July 9, 2023, from 2pm until 4pm and Monday at the church from 2pm to 3pm. Mrs. Goray is proceeded in death by her husband Horace “Pete” Goray, parents Porter, Gladys, and Vera Dobson, brother Robert Dobson, sons Jerry and Joe Goray, daughter Darlene Hill, granddaughter Kayla Morgan,and son-in-law Leon Lee. Mildred is survived by her daughters Jan Goray, Diane Morgan, Carolyn Lee, son Robert Goray (Amy), grandchildren: Jerrod Nowland (Bridgett), Leighanna Nowland, Wayne Goray, Shay Nowland, Kathy Goray (Corey), Langdon Goray (Danielle), Delle Goray, Stephanie Morgan, Tristan House, 15 great grandchildren 2 great-greatgrandchildren, sisters-in-law: Martha Dobson, Jo Liner, Jo Ann Goray,brother-in-law James Goray, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. Mildred lived her life for her Lord and her family, who she loved with all of her heart. She was a member of Hepzibah Baptist Church where she enjoyed worshiping her Lord and fellowship with her many friends there. Prior to working outside her home, she helped raise about half the children in Renfroe while their parents worked, and she loved and treated them as if they were her own. She is still referred to as “Mrs. Milouise” by some of those children. She was a dedicated wife who took care of her husband when he was no longer able and spent the last 5 weeks of his life by his side day and night at the hospital. The majority of her work outside the home was at Wal-Mart in Talladega where she made many friends and always enjoyed her friends finding her in the store to say hello. Pallbearers are grandsons and great grandsons: Jerrod Nowland, Langdon Goray, Delle Goray, Josh Nowland, Brody Nowland, and Abel Rudd, Honorary pallbearers are Beaver Tinsley, Scott Corbin, and Freddie Green. Her children wish to extend a special thank you to her caregiver, Polly Barclay, and Amedisys Hospice staff and special friend Jessica Catts, for the loving care and attention shown to their mother. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega is directing the service.
