Obituary of Doris Ruth Cotton

Doris Ruth Cotton of Munford, Alabama went home to be with the Lord on June 25, 2023 in Talladega, Alabama. She was 81 years old. Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, Aaron E. Cotton Sr.; her parents, James W. And Sadie H. Clowdus of Oneonta, Al.; Sisters, June Woodard; Betty Ann Cornelius; Joyce Johnson; Brothers, James Clowdus; Bobby Clowdus; Tommy Clowdus; Billy Clowdus. Doris is survived by her daughters, Wanni Robinson of Munford, Al. and Debbie Payne (Craig) of Muscadine, Al.; son, Aaron E. Cotton Jr. (Amie) of Talladega, Al. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Leslie Gallman (Drew); Ethan Woodard; Evan Woodard; Joshua Cotton; Caleb Cotton; Christy Prater (Preston); Jennifer Pruitt (Andy); Two sisters, Sue Adamson (Edward); Linda Allison (Ricky); and sister-n-law Alice Clowdus. Doris was born on January 15, 1942 and raised in Oneonta, Al. She lived most of her life in Talladega County where she married and raised her children. She was a lifelong member of the Church of God and she was completely dedicated to the Lord. She worked for the Lord all her life. Many people remember her as their Sunday school teacher and what an impact she made on the lives of young people. She was also very dedicated to missions and always had a heart for helping people. Most of all she loved everyone and will be remembered as a prayer warrior. She loved the Lord with her whole heart! What a legacy to leave for generations to come. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. in the Usrey Funeral Home Chapel for visitation. The service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Rev. Keith Owensby officiating. The burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Talladega, Al. Pallbearers will be Ethan Woodard, Evan Woodard, Joshua Cotton, Caleb Cotton, Drew Gallman, and Sammy Gallman. Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega will direct the service. A special thanks and appreciation goes out to the staff at Talladega Health and Rehab and New Beacon Hospice who loved her as family.
