Sending prayers of peace to the entire Willingham family during this time of loss. My dad, Don Cheek and Jerry Willingham served together in the army and our families have remained close for all these many years, not letting miles apart dampen those feelings. I had an opportunity to meet Jerry and Betty years ago as they invited me and my cousin Dean Edwards into their home. They treated both of us to join them at the Talladega 500 NASCAR race. While we had never met prior to our visit, they treated us like family with the upmost southern hospitality. Dean and I still reminisce about that experience and the fun we had staying at their home that weekend. It's an unforgettable memory that solidified my understanding of why both my parents have adored Jerry and Betty.
