Obituary of Betty Davis Wilder

Mrs. Betty Davis Wilder, 86, of Pell City, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023. Betty was born on February 5, 1937, to William L. Davis and Frankie Lee Crowley Davis. She graduated from Central High School in Jackson, Mississippi and she attended The University of Alabama where she is a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Betty later graduated with a degree in Home Economics from The University of Montevallo. She loved teaching and worked at Leeds High School, St. Clair County High School, and Moody High School where she was the consumer sciences teacher and the senior class sponsor. Even after retiring from teaching, she continued to serve for many years as a substitute teacher for the Pell City School System. Betty loved to travel and among her favorite destinations were New Orleans and the beach. She loved her family, shopping, flowers, and her many dear friends and her love for each of these was unparalleled except by her love for Alabama football! She is survived by her children, Cynthia Williamson (Gaston) and Norman Wilder (Suzy); grandchildren, Meg Williamson Clements (Jon), Collins D. Williamson, Jackson Williamson (Kailey), Tucker Wilder, Tanner Wilder, Paris Grace Wilder, and Caroline Wilder; great-grandchildren, Amelia Clements, Tatum Wilder, and Peyton Clements; nephew, Rob Davis (Jennifer); special friend, Beverly Orange; and many friends and former students. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City with Dr. Michael Barber officiating. The family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. The family would like to extend their special, heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers, Tara, Carol, Grace, and Robin for their kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to The Pell City Schools Education Foundation, P.O. Box 272, Pell City, Alabama 35125.
