Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Cox

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Cox, 93, of Ragland, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023. Elizabeth was the owner-operator of Cox Grocery in Ragland. She attended Oak Grove #2 Baptist Church in Ragland and was a longtime member of the Ragland Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Houston Cox; daughters, Denise Cox and Infant Tina Cox; and special friend, Jim Williams. She is survived by her sister, Wanda Gail Montabana (Mike), and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City. A graveside service will be officiated by Bro. Ives Harris at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Ragland Methodist Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thanks to friends and caregivers at The Village at Cook Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to either Oak Grove Baptist Church #2 (5852 Al Hwy 144, Ragland, Al 35153) or to Harvest Church (3209 8th Avenue North, Pell City, Al 35125).
