Mary Helen Merrell, 91, of Talladega, AL passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, January, 19, 2023. A funeral ceremony will be held in her honor at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega with Ricky Clark officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow directly after the service at Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Merrell was a native of Ashland, AL and had lived in Talladega since 1947. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Irene Williams, and brothers, Vernon Williams, Joe Williams, and Cecil “Junior” Williams. Mrs. Merrell is survived by her daughter, Rebecca M. (Bobby) Lashley; son, Richard D. (Jan) Merrell; grandchildren, Morgan (Katy) Lashley, Madeline Lashley, Ethan (Jordan) Merrell, Landan Merrell, and Natalie Merrell; great-grandchildren, Weston Merrell and Elizabeth Lashley, and sister, EllaRee Willoughby. Morgan Lashley, Ethan Merrell, Landan Merrell, Rodney Williams, Darrell Williams, and Andy Yarbrough will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Central Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1085, Talladega, AL 35161. Online condolences may be offered at www.usreyfuneralhome.com. Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega is directing the services.
