Obituary of Nelda Iris Nelson

Talladega, Alabama 35160 Funeral services for Mrs. Nelda Iris Parnell Nelson 81 of Munford AL. will be Thursday January 19, 2023, at 2:00 PM, Munford Church of Christ, with interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Shane Clark will officiate services. Visitation will be Thursday 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, one hour prior to services at the church. Mrs. Nelson passed away Monday January 16, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family. Mrs. Nelson is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jimmy F. Nelson, two daughters: Kaye O’Connor (Tom), Tamara Bean, two sons: Brian Nelson (Carol), Darrell Nelson (Karen), Grandchildren: Jessica Duke (Jonathon), Thomas O’Connor (Angela), Gatlin Nelson (Kelsey), Louisa Nelson, and Victoria Nelson. Six great grandchildren, and a sister Brenda McBrayer. Mrs. Nelson was born in Talladega AL. to Speigel S. and Eloise Maxwell Parnell, May 18, 1941, and was a Munford High graduate of 1959.Nelda was a faithful member of the Munford Church of Christ, the Munford Senior Center, Munford Homemakers Club and the Red Hats, She was a beautician, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her favorite places to be were home with family having a good time and laughing. The most important things to her were loving her husband Jim, going to church and singing from the heart .She loved all her children the same, cherished her friends, and was always smiling. Pallbearers will be : Thomas O’Connor, Gatlin Nelson, Jonathon Duke, Randy Hall, Rod Hall, and Andy Collett. Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of the Red Hats, and Munford Senior Center.
