Judy Elaine Whitten, 77, of Talladega passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 04, 2023. A funeral ceremony will be held in her honor at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 07, 2023 at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega with Josh Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow directly after the service at Pine Hill Memorial Mausoleum. Mrs. Whitten was a native of Houston County, Alabama, but she lived most of her life in Talladega. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She retired from Alabama School for the Blind after 25 years of service where she taught the first grade. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Kate Singletary, daughter-in-law, Tammy Whitten, and sister, Linda Kate Singletary. Mrs. Whitten is survived by her husband, Ben Whitten; daughter, Kim (Tommy) Batchelor; son, Keith Whitten; grandchildren, Brandon (Madison) Batchelor and Chelsey Batchelor, and great-grandchild, Piper Sage Batchelor. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Beth Gray with Southern Care New Beacon Hospice. Graham Davis, Roy Kent, Duane Alford, Greg Freeman, Brian Whitworth, and Boyd Allen will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Farral Alford, Travis Prestridge, Homer Parton, Ronnie Garrett, John Garrett, and Sam Staples. Online condolences may be offered at www.usreyfuneralhome.com.
