Obituary of Tom Williams

Thomas M. Williams, 92 of Talladega passed away at his home Saturday November 26, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday Nov. 30, 2022 at Central Baptist Church with burial in Pine Hill Memorial Park. His family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00pm at the church Wednesday. Curtis Pixler will officiate the service. Tom was a graduate of Ashland High School, where he played football for the Panthers. He Married Tressie “Polly” Gurley on September 28, 1951 and they remained happily married for 70 years. Tom founded Industrial Machine and Supply in 1967. Tom and Polly successfully ran “The Shop” together, until turning the business over to their son, David. Tom Loved gardening and enjoyed sharing his fruits of labor with everyone. He had a passion for antique cars and had restored several that won awards. He was along time member of Central Baptist Church, serving in many capacities, but his favorite way to serve was in the nursery and cooking for the Brotherhood breakfast. Tom was a hardworking, passionate, family loving man. He loved to play games and make people laugh. He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore “Buster” and Estelle “Nannie” Williams, his wife of 70 years Polly Williams, three brothers, Floyd, Fred and Clyde Williams, sister Catherine Shaddix, and a great-grandchild Caroline Pixler. He is survived by his daughter Kara Baggett-Swindell, son David (Sharon) Williams, grandchildren, Emily (Curtis) Pixler, Michael (Jessica) Williams, Amanda (Casey) Russell, great-grandchildren Eli, Ethan and Cate Pixler, Mary, Josie, Arthur, CeCe and Peter Williams, Zachary Heidenrich, Gabriel and Abbie Burgess, Jackson Vick. Employees and former employees of Industrial Machine and Supply will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct.
