Obituary of Delores Yvonne Weldon Dorris

Delores Yvonne Weldon Dorris, the daughter of Pascal and Evanelle Simmons born August 2, 1936 in Manchester, Tennessee passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones in Talladega, Alabama at the age of 86 on November 11, 2022. The funeral service will be held at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega, Alabama. The family will receive friends on Monday November 14th for visitation at 1:00PM and the service will start at 2:00PM ending at Pine Hill Cemetery with Pastor Vincent Arnold officiating the service. Serving as pallbearers are Keith Weldon, Jeff Haynes, Frank Tucci, Keith Gibson and Kacye Haynes. Usrey Funeral Home Chapel 516 North Street Talladega, Alabama. Pine Hill Cemetery 35036 AL-21 Talladega, Alabama. Delores was united in marriage to Bennie Jackson Weldon on June 19, 1957. They settled in Kansas where they raised six children. She was a devoted wife and mother with a strong faith in Christ and took great joy serving side by side with her husband who was a Baptist preacher. She enjoyed her nursing career caring for the elderly at the nursing home in Osawatomie, Kansas. She enjoyed camping, boat rides, picnics, flowers, listening to music, singing in church and going to nursing homes and singing for the residents, being with family and friends and she had quite the sweet tooth. Her husband Bennie lost his battle to cancer on July 28, 2005. She was united in marriage to Vernon Dorris in 2007 and resided with him in Missouri until his death in 2020. She relocated to live with her daughter Jeanne Haynes in Talladega, Alabama until her death. She is survived by her five children: Rick Weldon, Barbara Gibson (Keith), Jeanne Haynes, Diane Weldon, Keith Weldon (Randie), 17 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren. Brother, Wayne Simmons, and sisters; Patricia Danko and Sharon Hudak. She was preceded in death by her parents: pascal and Evanelle Simmons, husbands: Bennie Jackson Weldon and Vernon Dorris, son, Lance Weldon, grandson, Keith Blake Weldon and daughter-in-law, Betty Hill.
