Melanie Canada Harris passed away November 7, 2022, at the age of 67.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday November 11,2022 at Lincoln United Methodist Church. Rev. Lloyd Gibbs and Rev. Lee Witherington will officiate, with burial in Eastaboga Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 5-7 Thursday at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega
Born January 14, 1955, in Talladega, Alabama, Melanie was a life-long resident of Talladega County - the majority of those years spent in Eastaboga.
Melanie was a 1973 Graduate of Lincoln High School. She retired as the Library Director at Lincoln Public Library. She grew up in Craig Memorial United Methodist Church in Eastaboga and was most recently a member of Lincoln United Methodist Church.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; James Amos Canada Jr and Elaine Hackney Canada; parents in law, Cecil Foster Harris and Selma Charlcie Morrow Harris; and son, Brandon David Harris.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Dwight David Harris; daughter, Annaleigh Harris (Adam Dale Green) of Altoona; son, Jonathan David Harris (Brandi Little Harris) of Eastaboga; grandsons, Anderson David, Acker Ronald, and Ames Henry Harris; sisters, Betty White (Robert) of Eastaboga, Jan Rosas (Robert) of Silverdale, WA, and Karene Stricklin (Foy), of Gardendale. Melanie also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Melanie spent many years helping her parents and husband tend to cattle on their family farm in Eastaboga. She loved reading and learning new things. Her biggest blessing in life was her three precious grandchildren and spending time babysitting "the boys"...even though we all know they were taking care of her.
