Obituary of Arlue Irene James Payne

Arlue Irene James Payne, 102, previously of Talladega, AL passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 02, 2022 in Hoover, AL. Graveside rites will be held at Pine Hill Memorial Park in Talladega, AL on Friday, October 07, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. The service will be officiated by Billy Williams. The family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega from 12:30 P.M. until 1:30 P.M. prior to the service. Irene James Payne was born to Henry Monroe Collin James and Ida Frances Champion James on September 05, 1920. She worked at Hayes Aircraft as an electrician assistant for many years before retiring. She was a Sunday school teacher The First Wesleyan Church for 15 years and was very proud of her class. She also attended First Baptist Church of Talladega. She loved reading the Bible and attending ball games and events for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Callahan; son, Gary Payne (Loni); sister, Louise Blackstone; grandchildren, Warren Callahan (Lee Anne), Shawn Payne (Emily), Alonna Finlayson (Nate), and Lisandra Miller; great-grandchildren, Courtney Callahan Vernon (Sean), Abby Callahan, Graham Callahan, Corbin Callahan, Julianne Payne, Michaela Payne, Paxton Miller, Grayson Miller, Bolton “Bo” Finlayson, Alonna Finlayson, and Will Symms, and great-great-grandchildren, Tucker Vernon and Mason Vernon. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Monroe Collins James; mother, Ida Frances Champion James; husband, Bolton Samuel Payne Jr.; son, Gerald Payne (Lisa), and six brothers and sisters. The family would like to extend their gratitude to her primary caregiver, Mrs. Ebony Colvin, and the many other caregivers from Home Instead Senior Care, Briar Glen Memory Care, South Haven Health and Rehabilitation, and Affinity Hospice.
