James Selton Haynes, 87, of Alpine passed away in Sylacauga on Thursday, September 8, 2022. A funeral service will be held in his honor at Hepzibah Baptist Church on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. with David Crowe and Chase Lackey officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will follow directly after the services at Hepzibah Baptist Church Cemetery. He was a native of Clay County but lived most of his life in Alpine, AL. He retired from Alabama Power after 25 years of service. He was a member of Hepzibah Baptist Church, and he was a devoted family man that loved to work. Mr. Haynes is survived by his wife, Lois Haynes; daughter, Miriam (David) Crowe; sons, Ken (Linda) Haynes, David (Sanda) Haynes, and Steve (Marsha) Haynes; grandchildren, Savannah Haynes, Rachel Crowe, Hayden Haynes, Tyler Haynes, and Dolan (Bri) Crowe; step-grandchildren, Chase (Amy) Lackey, Kristin (Michael) Hackney, and Danielle (Kyle) Beasley, and 5 great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be the grandsons of Mr. Haynes. Online condolences may be offered at www.usreyfuneralhome.com. Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega is assisting the family.
