Obituary of Karen Cooley Burt

Please share a memory of Karen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Karen Cooley Burt passed away unexpectedly at her home in Talladega, AL on August 14, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Southside Baptist Church with Josh Henderson officiating. Karen was a native of Talladega and attended Talladega High School. She and her husband, Alan, also enjoyed living in Daphne, Wetumpka, and Monroeville while traveling with Alan’s job. They had only recently returned to Talladega for their retirement years. Karen worked for Crown Textile, Citizen’s Hospital, and Tree Farmer for several years, but she and Alan decided to become foster parents. She spent those years sharing her big heart, love, and time with those children. Karen had a big smile that would light up a room. Karen married Alan Burt, the love of her life, and they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary next June. She was a loving mother and wife and loved being a homemaker. Karen loved her family with all of her heart, and she and Alan were always together. Karen, Alan, and their son, Kevin, were all baptized together at Bay Community Church in Daphne, AL. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Barbara Cooley and her brother, Howard Cooley. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Alan Burt; son, Kevin; brothers, Alan (Lillie) Cooley and Wren Cooley; sister-in-law, Gail Canada Cooley; niece, Jessica Rice; nephews, Jason Cooley and Preston Cooley, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, please see the GoFundMe page for Alan Burt who requires constant care. Online condolences maybe offered at www.usreyfuneralhome.com. Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega is assisting the family.
