Obituary of Tressie Eloise "Polly" Gurley Williams

Tressie Eloise “Polly” Gurley Williams, 91, of Talladega passed away at her home on Saturday, August 20, 2022. A celebration of life will be held in her honor at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Central Baptist Church in Talladega with Curtis Pixler officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow directly after the service at Pine Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Williams was a graduate of Talladega High School. She retired from Industrial Machine and Supply as Vice President. She loved to sing in her church choir and community chorus. She was also a Sunday school teacher and loved flowers and gardening. One of her favorite hobbies was painting, and she was a member of the infamous “Sarah’s Girls” of Talladega. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rosa Gurley, and great-granddaughter, Caroline Pixler. Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband of 71 years, Tom Williams; daughter, Kara Swindell; son, David (Sharon) Williams; grandchildren, Emily (Curtis) Pixler, Michael (Jessica) Williams, and Amanda (Casey) Russell; and great-grandchildren, Eli Pixler, Ethan Pixler, Cate Pixler, Mary Williams, Josie Williams, Arthur Williams, CeCe Williams, Peter Williams, Zachary Heidenreich, Gabriel Burgess, Abigail Burgess, and Jackson Vick. Active pallbearers will be Eli Pixler, Ethan Pixler, Carl Hudson, Neal Williams, Marty Williams, Michael Williams, and Mark Williams. Online condolences may be offered at www.usreyfuneralhome.com.
