Obituary of Doris Juanita Davis Pope

Please share a memory of Doris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Doris Juanita Davis Pope, 84, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at her home in Lexington, South Carolina. Juanita is survived by her daughters: Cheryl Juanita Pope Davis (Jerry), Teresa Jinx Pope Davis (Joe), granddaughters: Cassie Juanita Davis Smith (Terry), April Borum Tuten (Mike), Shannon Davis Cardinal (Mark), Wendy Paige Borum, Tommi Jo Davis Cosma (Kevin), 7 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Juanita was the devoted wife of Thomas Edsel Pope for sixty-one years until his death in 2006. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family and friends and if a Disney World trip was involved, all the better! She enjoyed traveling as long as it was by land or sea. She enjoyed a brief career as a LPN, working as a recovery room nurse at Selma Medical Center and then Judson College as their school nurse before retiring to live the good life with Tom on Logan Martin Lake in Pell City. Juanita never met a stranger. She talked to every person she met as if she had known them all her life. Everyone she knew loved her. The family would like to thank all of our mother’s physicians in both Alabama and South Carolina for all the special care and attention given to her. We offer a special thank you to Hospice Advantage in Columbia, SC for all the support given during our mother’s final two months of illness. A private family entombment service will be Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Pine Hill Memorial Park and Mausoleum.
