Obituary of Lloyd L. Smith, Jr.

Memorial services for Lloyd L. Smith, Jr, age 65, of Eastaboga, AL, formerly of Ashland, AL, will be Saturday, April 2, 2022. Visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. with the Memorial service at 3 p.m. at Craig Memorial United Methodist Church located at 175 John Wills Avenue, Eastaboga, AL, 36260. Pastors David Carboni and Clay Lovelady officiating. Mr. Smith passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 surrounded in love by family and friends. Mr. Smith is survived by his loving and devoted wife: Martha D. Smith; his daughter: Candice L Smith, his son, Patrick N. Smith (Celeste), and their mother, Cathy Forman Smith, Ashland; bonus sons: Byron H. Durham (Lisa), Eastaboga, and Brandon C. Durham (Natalie), Ashland; two sisters: Liz Smith Horn, Alabaster, and Sharon Smith McVay (Stanley), Ashland; one sister-in-law, Agnes Smith O’Neal; two brother-in-laws, Randy Hanners and Jim Lumpkin; 14 loving grandchildren, 2 precious great-grandchildren; and his loyal canine companion, Buddy. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents: Lloyd L. Smith, Sr. and Flora Mai O’Neal Smith; one brother, James Ross O’Neal; two sisters, Ann Smith Lumpkin and Pat Smith Hanners; and two grandsons, Baron and Branson Durham. Mr. Smith graduated from Clay County High School, Ashland, AL, Class of 1974. He was employed at Doncasters Southern Tool in Oxford, AL for 46 years. Known to many as “Big Lloyd” and “THE Brother” to his siblings. He was a loving husband and devoted family man. He always liked to kid around, his smile would light up a room, and he gave the warmest hugs. He enjoyed taking the scenic route on road trips and supporting his grandchildren in their hobbies and accomplishments. He was an avid fisherman his entire life. One of his greatest pleasures was being on his boat, with a rod and reel in hand!
