Obituary of Sarah Hurst Sanders

Mrs. Sarah Hurst Sanders, 91, of Ashville, Alabama passed away on March 11, 2022. Mrs. Sanders was retired after many years of serving as the secretary for Ashville High School. For over sixty years, she also served as a pianist at Greensport Baptist Church and surrounding churches. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Rayford Sanders; her daughter, Julia Sanders Farmer; and by her parents, Franklin Baron Hurst and Vera Belle Hurst. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Sanders; sons, Tom Sanders (Teresa) and Joe Sanders (Deborah); grandchildren, Megan Szymanski (Daniel), Kenny Farmer (Breanna), Matthew Sanders (Joy), Mark Sanders (Heather), and Anna Sanders; great-granchildren, Will Farmer, Ellison Szymanski, Cade Sanders, Caylee Sanders, Madelyn Sanders, Naomi Sanders, Sadie Kate Sanders, Maggie Sue Sanders, Caroline Sanders, J.B. Sanders, Isabelle Sanders, and Jonah Sanders. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Greensport Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Hunt and Dr. Michael Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 15, 2022, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Greensport Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Greensport Baptist Church Building Fund, 9305 Shoal Creek Road, Ashville, Alabama 35953.
