Obituary of Raymond Edward Meads

Raymond Edward Meads, 100 ½, completed his earthly mission and was called home, March 5, 2022. Raymond was Born, September 26, 1921 and called Ragland, Alabama home his entire life. He was a World War II Veteran and retired from the National Cement Company after 43 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 ½ years, Laura Lee Denton Meads; parents, Ruby Meads Talley and Samuel Moses Meads; brothers, Houston Meads and Theodore Meads, and sisters, Lillian Daffron and Viola Browder. Left to carry on Raymond’s legacy is one daughter, Janice Day; one son, Gary Meads and his wife; special Daughter-in-Love, Pat Meads; 4 grandchildren, Sherrie Carter (Darren), Amy Sneed, Wendy Moncrief (Bobby), and Kevin Meads (Andrea); 12 great-grandchildren, Eythan Carter (Sierra), Taylor Carter, Tyler Carter, Riley Davis, Alexa Davis, Alyssa Moncrief, Bryant Meads, Lyla Meads, Chylie Moorer, De’Andre Brown, Leia Brown, and Bronson Sneed; 4 great – great grandchildren; and chosen brother and friend Mike Alexander. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City, with Bro. Mike Allums and Bro. Joe Dorough officiating. Interment will follow at Ragland Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the funeral home. The family would like to say a special thank you to Pallbearers, Kevin Meads, Eythan Carter, Tyler Carter, De’Andre Brown, Bronson Sneed, Darren Carter, Riley Davis, and Mike Alexander; and to Brother Mike Allums for being a special part of the Meads family.
