Obituary of Barbara Blatz Damke

Barbara Blatz Damke, 77. The funeral mass for Barbara Blatz Damke will be Saturday February 5, 2022 at 10am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Barbara succumbed to cancer on January 13, 2022 in Knoxville, TN. Barbara was born to Ethel and Elmer Blatz and raised in St. Louis, MO where she graduated from Incarnate Word Academy and Miss Hickey’s School for Business. Barbara was married to Richard J. Damke and moved to Anniston, AL in 1976. Barbara was active in the community and served as Director of March of Dimes for many years before becoming a real estate agent with ERA King Real Estate. Barbara also served as parish president for Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and was active with the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce. Barbara loved dancing and spending time with family. She enjoyed extensive travel through the years to Hawaii, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Monaco and all over the Caribbean. She was also an avid reader. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Richard J. Damke and son, David L. Damke. Barbara is survived by her son, Rick III (Katie), of Phenix City, AL; Daughter, Wendy Jacobs (Allen) of Knoxville, TN; sister, Pennee Struckman of St. Louis, MO. Grandchildren include Richard Damke IV “Bogey”, Blythe Jacobs and McKenzie Jacobs.
