Obituary of William L. Smith

William L. Smith of Munford, AL passed away February 2, 2022, at the age of 82. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Munford Church of Christ with Shane Clark officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the church. Mr. Smith was a native and lifelong resident of Munford and a member of Munford Church of Christ. He served in The National Guard for six years and did his basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. In his younger years he was a butcher at Haynes Grocery and later started a cut and pack meats for the farmers. He made his famous sausage that everyone loved. He worked for 35 years out of Local 312 Operating Engineers running heavy equipment. He was a loving father and adored his grandchildren. William is survived by his wife Priscilla “Patsy” Smith, son Kenneth Smith, daughter Karen Maxwell (Joel), son Jeffrey Smith (Lori), son Derrick Smith (Holly), sister Frances Stephens, grandchildren Jennifer Reynolds, Brandon Maxwell, Ryan Smith, Erika Smith Sims, Harrison Smith, Darcie Smith, great-grandchildren Emma Reynolds, Jameson Reynolds, Anberly Reynolds and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents William David and Naree Harrison Smith, brothers Charles Smith, William David Smith, Jr., Jerry Lee Smith, William Farris Smith, sisters Hazel Smith Williams and Mable Ann Vise. Pallbearers will be Duane Stephens, Scott Stephens, Trey Rockwell, T.J. Gaither, Brandon Smith, and Michael Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Rip Williams, and James Galbreath.
