Mrs. Cathy Ann Alverson, 69, of Ragland, Alabama passed away on January 26, 2022. Mrs. Alverson was a member of Providence Baptist Church where she was the pianist. She also served as pianist at Gray's Chapel, Macedonia and Cook Springs. She was retired from the St. Clair County Board of Education with over 25 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herschel and Charlsie Phillips; and her brother, Donnie Phillips. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Roy Alverson; son, Michael Thad Alverson; grandchildren, Shelby, Cainan & Trace Alverson, and Caleb Shadrix; sisters, Janice Howard and Jeannie Phillips; niece, Jamie Byers (Jarvis); nephew, Chad Bean (Suzi); grand-niece, Trinity Byers; grand-nephews, Javonte and Jordan Byers; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City, with Rev. Jeremiah Benson officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jason Phillips, Paul Phillips, Chad Bean, Jeff Alverson, Jack Schall, Kevin Trammel and Dennis Grizzel. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Condolences may be offered online at www.usreyfuneralhome.com. Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City, will direct the service.
