Marjorie Ruth Herring Martin passed away January 18, 2022. at Cahaba Ridge Assisted living facility in Vestavia Hills Al. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm January 30, 2022, at Frist Presbyterian Church of Talladega with Reverend LeeAnn Scarborough officiating. Her Cremated remains will be buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Talladega. Marjorie Was preceded in death by her parents Altus Whitner Herring and Irma Leona Buchel Herring, four sibling’s sisters Virginia Jones, Mary Sessions, and her twin sister Margaret Ann Herring Stewart, brother Altus Welton Herring, her first husband Walter Jackson Hayes and husband James Russell Martin, grandson Aaron Davis Hayes. She is survived by her son Todd Munroe Hayes and his wife Karen Mann, daughter Margaret Leigh Ellis and husband Gregory, Grandson Jackson Harrison Hayes and wife Daisha and their children Harper and Charlotte, step grandson Samuel Anderson Mann, niece Marjorie Stewart Daniel and husband David, their children Leslie Motley and husband Shenan and their children Bo and Drake, niece Ashley Caffey and husband Austin their children Garrett and Price, Niece Joanne Stewart Bozeman husband Barry their children Jody Bozeman wife Holly, and their children Landon and Livia, Bradley Bozeman and wife Nikki, Niece Pam Jones (deceased) and her children Allison Moore (deceased) and Clair Fantaske, nephew Allen Roberts and wife Nancy their children Kim, Kerri and Allen, nephew Alan Jones wife Debra their children Christopher and Mitchell, Brother-in-law Curtis Martin wife Nancy brother-in-law Dr. Willis Martin (deceased) wife Barbara (deceased), step daughters Becky D’allochio, Barbara Martin her daughter Lauren Richards husband Nathan their child Oceayn, stepsons Robert Martin, Russell Martin wife Darcy, James Martin wife Cynthia their children Megan Clark husband Andrew and Kelli Alley husband Blair. Marjorie was born in Thomaston Ga. In1928 a twin to sister Margaret Ann Herring Stewart. The family moved to Talladega in 1929 and lived in Bemiston. She graduated from Talladega High School in 1947. She attended nursing training at St. Vincent’s in Birmingham from 1947-1950 and received Registered Nursing Degree. She was a member of first Presbyterian Church in Talladega and a member of the Lydia Sunday School class, she was given a honorary life member ship in 1985. She served in the Presbyterian women’s circle. In various capacities and sang in choir for many years. She loved her church and its members. She was a member of the pilot’s club, gaycettes, Talladega study club, junior welfare league, holly garden club, numerous bridge clubs, and American Nurses Association. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Citizens Hospital in Talladega, for fifteen years in the operating room and nursing supervisor, she also worked as a R.N. at Randolph County Hospital in Roanoke for twenty years. While living in Roanoke she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, member of the Music Club, Silhouette Club, worked with girl scouts, member of several bridge clubs and many wonderful friends.
