Obituary of Frances Gray Martin

Frances Gray Martin, a follower of Christ, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on November 26, 2021. She was surrounded by her daughter, granddaughter, great granddaughters, family and friends. She will be remembered for her faith, her giving spirit, and her love for family and friends. She loved visitors and would prepare a feast for anyone who walked into her home. She was born on July 18, 1932, and in her 89 years she was a blessing to family, friends, and all who knew her. She graduated Ragland High School in 1950. Shortly after graduation she married, Ray T Martin, and they lived in Alabama until 1959 when her husband got a job in Miami with the FEC Railway. Soon after moving to Miami, they raised 3 children and shared life for 43 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray T. Martin, her daughter, Lori Martin, her parents Vera Gray Walton and Jimmy Wadsworth Gray, and her brother Terrell Gray. She is survived by her daughter, Canicia Lunger, and husband Gene Lunger of Plantation, FL and her son, Daryl Martin and wife Dina of Miami, FL; her grandchildren and their spouses, Lindsay and Robert Johnson, and Ryan and Lauren Englund; her Great-grandchildren, Emily and Claire Johnson; and several dearly loved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 9th from 1:00pm – 2:00pm at Pope’s Chapel Community Church, 1218 Pope’s Chapel Rd, Ragland, AL 35131. The funeral will be held after visitation beginning at 2:00pm, with burial following the service in the adjoining cemetery. There will be an opportunity to fellowship afterwards in the outdoor pavilion at the church.
