Obituary of Mae Nix

Mae Nix, 85 0f Clanton and formerly of Talladega passed away November 27, 2021 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Tuesday November 30, 2021 at Usrey Funeral Home Chapel in Talladega with burial in Pine Hill Memorial Park. Kevin Nelson and Jason Ledbetter will officiate the service. Her family will receive friends from 5pm-8pm Monday at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega. Mrs. Nix is preceded in death by her husband Eldred Nix, Father Charley Smelley, mother and stepfather Sadie and Eugene Stone, son Ray Nix, sisters Betty Carden, Marie Crabtree and brother Ronnie Stone. Mae was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and former charter member of Northside Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter Dianne Nelson (Perry), son Mike Nix, daughter-in-law Lynn Nix, grandchildren Michael Nelson (Heidi), Kevin Nelson (Amy), Rachel Denney (Shane), April Duncan (Adam), Brandon Nix (Jess), 11 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, brother Ricky Stone, sister-in-law Janet McDiarmid, brother-in-law Johnny Nix (Pat) and a host of nieces and nephews Pallbearers will be Michael Nelson, Brandon Nix, Adam Duncan, Mike Crabtree, Dawson Dobson, Bill Dobson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Harless, Duke Martin, Jerry Nelson, Danny Wright, Tim Nored, Jimmy Pitts. Her family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice of Birmingham for the special care given to her. Usrey Funeral Home Talladega will direct services.
