Funeral services for Jean Hewitt Lackey, age 97, will be Friday
November 19th at 11A.M. at Munford Baptist Church with a graveside
service and burial to follow for the family at Pine Hill Memorial Park in Talladega. Pastor John Harris will officiate. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. on Thursday,
November 18th at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega and at 10 A.M. on Friday
at Munford Baptist Church.
Mrs. Lackey was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Thomas
E. Lackey Sr., parents, William G. and Ollie M. Hewitt, sisters, Willie Mae
Langley, Jewel H. Ragsdale, Doris Smith and her brother, William Price
Hewitt.
Mrs. Lackey is survived by her sons, Thomas Lackey Jr. (LaDonna)
and William Lackey of Pensacola, FL, daughter, Melanie Berry (Don) of
Grand Bay, AL, sister, Ruth Hewitt of Birmingham, grandchildren, Tia Berry,
Tanya Berry, Hannah Peterson, and Brook Peterson.
Mrs. Lackey was a native of Birmingham, Alabama but was a resident
of Munford for most of her life. She was a member of Munford Baptist
Church where she taught a ladies Sunday school class for 23 years, and was
active in offices of the Women’s Missionary Society. She was in the
Munford Extension Homemakers Club for 42 years. She was also a member of the Alabama Campers on Mission where she made over 80 missions.
