Obituary of Edward Eugene Knodel

Edward Eugene Knodel (Da) went to his Heavenly home on September 3, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Myrtle Knodel. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Diane Knodel; children, Jennifer and William (Brandy), and his beautiful grandchildren Meghan, Breanna, and Abigail; His six brothers: Lamar Smith (Janet), Joe Smith, Leonard Knodel, Robert Knodel, Billy Knodel (Lisa), and Chris Knodel (Glynis); and number of nieces and nephews. Edward was born in Grand Bay, AL and was baptized in 1969 while attending Grand Bay Church of Christ. He graduated from Lymen Ward Military Academy where he had played football and the trumpet. He attended Alabama Christian College (Faulkner) where he met Diane and they married in 1974. He entered the US Air Force and was stationed in South Korea. He attended and graduated from International Bible College (Heritage Christian University) and was a preacher at several congregations over the years while working full time. He was a member Talladega Church of Christ where he shared his love of God, knowledge of the Bible, and participated in worship. Da loved going to see his grandchildren where he even went shopping and smelled all the candles. He loved his job at Jennifer’s house of grilling shrimp and ribs. He was a diehard Alabama Crimson Tide fan. His laugh and sense of humor will be missed the most. The first memorial service will be September 25, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Talladega Church of Christ, Russ Vickers officiating. The second memorial service will be October 9, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Grand Bay Church of Christ. If you have a story, photo, or memory of Edward, please send it to Jennifer at jennknodel@gmail.com.
