Talladega – Steve Roger Barker, 69, passed away September 7, 2021. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 10, at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega with Kevin Jones officiating. There will be a visitation for extended family and friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m., also at Usrey.
Roger was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega. He was a “Jack of all trades”, that included, plumbing, carpentry, and boat building. He was a United States Army veteran and loved his country, he was also a father and a grandfather who loved his children and grandchildren with his entire heart.
Survivors include his wife, Maudine Pettis Barker; his children, Harvey Lee Brand (Stacy), and Stephanie Lynn Barker (Scotty), both of Talladega; a brother, Charles Wayne Barker (Shirley Jean), of Talladega; a sister, Shirley Faye Humphrey (Terry), of Aurora, CO.; four grandchildren, Kyndall Lynn Griffin, Scotlyn Wain Griffin, Kellan Daxson Griffin, Dakota Harley Borden, and “Buddy”, his dog.
Those preceding him in death were his parents’, S. L. and Lucille Barker, and a brother, Howard J. Barker.
