Tom Lambe posted a condolence

It was with great sadness that his friends in Belfast, Ireland, learned of the death of a fantastic guy, James C Rooney. He was always cheerful, welcoming and enthusiastic in life, His favourite word was "fantastic" through which he would give encouragement to those seeking to move onwards and upwards in life. In particular, he loved Ireland and all things Irish, especially Gaelic games, and would travel the length of the country to see football and hurling matches. Unfortunately, we lost touch with James when he returned to Alabama - especially so as his health began to decline.
We shall miss James Cormac very much. May his cheerful soul rest in peace and may the Good Lord watch over him and keep him safe in His care. Amen
From Tom and Claire Lambe, Belfast

Uncle James was my dad's cousin and closest friend. I grew up with his frequent stays at my childhood home in Floral Park, NY. At mass, instead of "peace be with you", it was "free Ireland". He would give the coat off his back for the least of us and was never short on wit. You will be greatly missed by the Thoms family. I'll be playing the Irish rebel music loudly this weekend in your honor. RIP.

I have fond memories of both Marge and James, there was always a smell of Marge’s cookies being baked, coffee was always on the go. Marge would see for hours whilst James read the papers. Many times they took me to an Irish traditional music night in Ballerin. Both my parents were friends with Marge and James for many years in Ireland. I was saddened to hear of his passing. May he rest in peace with Marge. Amen.
