Brenda Thomaston Slay,73 of Lincoln passed away August 27, 2021. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Wednesday September 1, 2021 at Usrey Funeral Home Chapel in Talladega. Tony Thrower will officiate the services. The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
Brenda was a graduate of Lincoln High School and Jacksonville State University. She was retired from Anniston Army Depot and taught at Mt. View Hospital forthe last ten years. She received her doctrine in Ministry and taught Sunday School for may years at Cornerstone Church.
Brenda is preceded in death by her husband Claude Slay, parents Harvel and Seleta Thomaston, sister Euna Underwood and brother Thomas Thomaston. She is survived by her daughter Leah (Jeff) Minter, grandson Jeffery Bruce Minter, stepson Tony (Kristie) Slay, step-granddaughters Amy (Tyler) Loveday, Rachel Slay, stepdaughters Pam Brinson, Sherry Kirby, Debbie Royston and Kim Slay, Sisters Barbara Kirtley, Linda Brannon, Kelsie Johnson, brother Don Thomaston and a host of step-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews.
Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega is directing services.
