Obituary of Jack Edward Swinford

Jack Edward “Jackie” Swinford passed away August 20, 2021, at the age of 59. His funeral service will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at The International Motorsports Hall of Fame Dome with Randy Howell and Michael Doss officiating. A private family interment will follow at Munford Memorial Cemetery. Jackie was a native of Munford and a lifelong resident of Talladega County. He was a graduate of Talladega Academy, University of Montevallo (Pi Kappa Phi), and Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. He practiced law and was owner/operator of Cheaha Construction. He served four terms as Talladega County Commissioner and was a longtime member of The White Flag Club. Jackie’s passion was his devotion to public service and helping others. Mr. Swinford is survived by his “Baby Girl”, Katie Swinford (Phillips Morrison) and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Billy “Big Chief” and Dot Swinford and brother, Joe Swinford. Pallbearers will be Rob Skelton, Mack Huckaby, Gary Carter, Gene Cochran, Bill Browning and Michael Doss. Honorary pallbearers are The White Flag Club and Talladega County Commissioners. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega is directing services.
