Obituary of Rev. Wayne Gilbert Brewer
Please share a memory of Rev. Wayne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rev. Wayne Gilbert Brewer, 82, of Pell City, AL, quietly departed this life at his home on Aug. 8, 2021 of natural causes.
Wayne was born on May 14, 1939, son of late John Henry and Adelle Brewer of Gadsden, Alabama. His beautiful life will forever be cherished and kept alive by his adoring eternal wife and long-time helpmate, Faye Brewer; daughters, Angela Brewer Jones (Wallace) and Michele Brewer Anson; sons, Philip Brewer (Beth) and Paul Brewer (Heather); sister, Barbara Hawkins (Dwight); grandchildren, Morgan Jones, Nathaniel Jones, Zachary Jones, Shelbey Staples, Jordan Anson, Colby Brewer, Carlyn Brewer, Carington Brewer, Emaleigh Brewer and Harper Brewer; and seven great-grandchildren.
After graduating from high school, he joined the Airforce in 1958 where he served our country for several years. After the Airforce, Rev. Brewer was called to the ministry and attended Hope Sound Bible College in 1969. He served faithfully as Pastor in numerous churches in St. Clair County and around the State of Alabama. He faithfully served as chaplain at Baptist Princeton and Montclair hospitals, and the St. Clair County jail and correctional facility.
His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he mentioned often. He was unendingly proud of his family and always tried his best to provide for them working 25 years at Contel/GTE telephone company.
He will be remembered because of his generous spirit, powerful testimony, and willingness to come at any time of the night to help any neighbor in need; he was loved by many. His Christian life was exhibited by his love for God, and his influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him. He believed in people even more than they believed in themselves.
The funeral service was held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City, with Rev. Morgan Jones, Rev. Philip Brewer and Rev. Paul Brewer officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
