Oxford, AL. – Carolyn Couch Hamlin, 74, passed away July 27, 2021. A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 30, at Pine Hill Memorial Park in Talladega with Ferrell Morris officiating. Her family will have a visitation for extended family and friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening, July 29, at Usrey Funeral Home. Carolyn was a longtime resident of Talladega and a member of Southside Baptist Church. Her father was a coach and passed his love for football and baseball to her. She was a devout Christian and loved spending time with her granddaughter. She attended school at Sylvania and was a 1965 graduate of Etowah High School. Survivors include her son, Cleave Hamlin (Drew Sanders); her daughter, Delean Shierling (Ronnie); her grandchildren, Matalyn Chappell, Clay Chappell, and Brett Shierling; her brother, James Couch of TN.; her nephews, James Couch, Jr. (Beth) and Kevin Couch (Kim); two uncles, James M. Couch and Charlie Couch (Pam), both of Gadsden, AL. She’s also survived by a best friend of 50 years, Shirley Clower, also of Gadsden, AL. Preceding her in death were her parent’s, Eleanor Christine and Elbert Couch, and a sister-in-law, Mary Quinn Couch. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to breast cancer prevention, pediatric cancer research or a charity of your choice.
