Larry Joel Muir, a life long resident of Shoal Creek Valley and an 18 year Walmart associate, died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 10, 2021. Larry was born on September 17, 1965 to Ray and Martell Muir. He was the youngest of 5 siblings and a 1984 graduate of Ashville High School. He was a country boy who still opened doors for the ladies and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR and wrestling. He loved family reunions and getting together with former classmates. Many mornings he could be found in his recliner listening to old time gospel music. But, everyone acquainted with him knew that his #1 passion was Alabama football. In 2018, that moved to #2 when he started dating Juanita, who became the love of his life. They married April 17, 2021. Mr. Muir was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Martell Muir; brother, John Muir; and sister, Reba Nichols. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Owens Muir; Mother in law, Meralene Owens; sisters, Roxie Kitchens (Sam) and Naomi Hood (Joey); brother in law, Andrew Owens; nephew, Neal Hood; nieces, Carla Campbell (Josh), Brooke Nichols, Allison Nichols, Samantha Phillips (Brad), and Kelsey Hood; 8 great- nephews and nieces; aunt, Odessie Cox, who was a second mother to him; and, many cousins whom he loved deeply - some who were more like siblings.
