Specialist Taylor Matthew Jackson, 22, of Talladega, Alabama passed away on June 23. 2021 in North Carolina.
SPC Jackson was born on July 20,1998 and was a 2017 graduate of Munford High School, where he was a member of the Robotics Club. He enlisted in the United States Army as a 91B Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic in July 2017 attending Basic Training at Fort Jackson, SC and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Lee, VA. While serving in the 264th Clearance Company, SPC Jackson was instrumental in maintaining the unit’s fleet during critical mission requirements. He truly went above and beyond to ensure vehicles were ready to join the fight, and was often sought after from his peers and leadership alike for his expertise in troubleshooting the most difficult maintenance issues. He was a true expert at his craft and never expected recognition for his accomplishments. Taylor was an extraordinary mechanic, an honorable Soldier, and a loyal friend to many across the Tiger Battalion. After a hard day’s work in the motorpool, he could always be found in the barracks parking lot assisting his fellow paratroopers fixing personal vehicles and cracking jokes along the way. Everyone wanted to go straight to Taylor to work on their trucks. He loved old-school American muscle and working on just about any vehicle “before they were computers” as he always said.
On the weekends you’d never find Taylor indoors. He loved being out with family and friends, riding through trails in his bronco and 4 wheeler, racing and crawling with his RC cars, or just sitting outside talking about motors. Every friend could count on Taylor to help them in a time of need and he was always able to bring a smile to your face no matter the circumstance. Taylor was an absolute joy to be around, always laughing and joking with everyone. Taylor loved fishing with his Mom, riding 4 wheelers with his Dad, playing video games with Michael and shooting BB guns with Misty. Taylor loved playing board games, going to the dirt track and sharing Tik Toks with his siblings. Taylor loved spending weekends with his friends and surprising them by just showing up when he was on leave. Taylor loved going to family dinners and spending time with his family. Taylor was a shining Light in a dark world. Taylor was a protector with a heart as soft as a marshmallow and nerves of steel. When he gave love, he did it with all his heart and soul. If Taylor was your friend, he was your friend forever. He loved without judgement and accepted people for all they were. He was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend.
He was preceded in death by grandfather, Nathan Jerome Jackson. He is survived by his mother, Amber Jackson Keener (Michael) ; father, Nathan "P.J." Jackson (Misty) ; sisters, Brooke Jackson, Becca Pressley (Corey) , Destiny Keener, Paige Folsom (Greyson) ; brother Alexander Keener ; grandparents, Tony and Janna Underwood, Susan Jackson, Anna Fugatt, Marie Bentley and Danny Bentley (Sarah) ; aunts, Renae Jackson, Bethany Kelm-Davis and family, Cassidy Bentley and family; uncle, Joshua Underwood and family; nieces, Madelyn Pressley, Kenlyn Pressley, Emily Folsom ; nephew, Theo Pressley.
