Obituary of Sherman Lee Phillips

Mr. Sherman Lee Phillips, 78, of Ragland, Alabama passed away on June 1, 2021. Mr. Phillips was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. He was an active member and past Commander of Ragland VFW Post 6652. Under Commander Phillips' leadership VFW Post 6652 achieved national recognition as an All American Post. He was also a member of the DAV and The American Legion. Mr. Phillips was retired from Anniston Army Depot after over 20 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Marie Phillips; and a brother, Hayward Phillips. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Vines Phillips; daughter, Lisa Metcalfe; sons, Craig Phillips and Matthew Phillips; grandchildren, Allison Bunn, Emily Kay (Brad), Joel Bunn and Jordan Barr; great-grandchildren, Tristan Kay and Memory Kay; sister, Pamela Trammell; brothers, Vincent Phillips and Randall Phillips (Joy); and by numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City with Chaplain Greg Tankersley officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Ragland. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.usreyfuneralhome.com. Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City, is in charge of arrangements.
