Obituary of Michael Dale Hare

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On the 21st Day of the 21st week of the 21st year of the 21st century Michael Dale “Pickle” Hare of Ashville, AL passed away. Mike was the kind of man everyone needs to know. He knew every song on the radio, had strong beliefs, and rules to live by. Mike was very hardheaded and strong willed. If he cared for you, then he was hard on you. He pushed you to be a better person in everything you did. If you do the right thing when no one is watching, you build character. That was Mike Hare. As a young kid he knew he wanted more and to have more you had to work for it, and he did. He worked hard in his career, his friendships, his relationships with family, and loving his wife. Mike made it clear that without the love of his wife, Lisa, he would have never been able to be a successful man, and to find a love like that it only happens once in a lifetime. Mike might have been hardheaded, but he would stop anything to help a friend in need. Mike had the ability to encourage you and push you to be a better person all at the same time. Later in life Mike was know as “Papa,” and everyone loved Papa! Mike who had worked so many long hours while his children were growing up was able to devote long hours helping his many grandchildren. He was always just one phone call away when any of them needed him. Being able to spend so much time with them is one of his greatest joys in life. Mike loved watching Alabama football while enjoying a big bowl of chili. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time hunting, however his favorite part was teaching his grandchildren how to hunt. Mike had a mini-farm full of animals. A mini-farm developed after Lisa told him no more full sized bulls. He has had a blast learning the mini breeds and showing cows with his friends. He would want everyone to remember: “Working hard never hurt no one! And Don’t ever give up!” Mr. Hare is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hare; daughter, Keri Hare (Joey); son, Joshua Hare; grandchildren, Gavin Hare, Andrea Smith, Christopher Brown, Lily Hare, Bethaney Smith, Asher Hare, Aubree Funderburg, Addison Funderburg, and Avery Funderburg; sister, Susan Standifer; brother, Ricky Hare; and numerous children to whom he was a “Papa.” The funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm on Monday, May 24, 2021, at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City. The family will receive friends Monday, May 24, 2021, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cool Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Ashville High School FFA, or Ashville High School Wrestling.
