Obituary of Bro. Mickey A. Jones

Bro. Mickey A. Jones, 62, of Ragland, Alabama was born on November 27, 1958, born again in August 1975, and ran to the arms of Jesus on January 29, 2021. Mickey had a heart for people...all people. He lived his life looking for every opportunity to help and share the love of Jesus with others. It didn't matter if he was preaching on Sunday or teaching, coaching or lawn care Monday through Saturday. If he saw an opportunity to serve others, he took it. He was always just a phone call away. Every day he was here was just one day closer to him running to the arms of Jesus and he lived for it. On numerous occasions he would say, "The head and the heart are 18 inches apart and there's gonna be a lot of people who miss heaven by 18 inches." He is survived by his wife, Marla Jones; children, Jason M. Jones, Jessica M. Ekhator and Justin C. Jones (Beverly); grandchildren, Cash Robinson, Jackson Robinson, Carter Jones, Peyton Jones, Kinley Jones, Delaney Jones, Zoey Ekhator, Lexie Jones, Lena Ekhator and Griffin Jones; mother, Verda Jo Jones; brothers, Randy Jones and Larry Jones (Louise); sister, Karen McCluskey (Brian); and a host of other family members and friends that he considered to be an extension of his family who he loved dearly. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City with Bro. Charlie Nicholson, Bro. Jonathan Maddox, Bro. William Borden and Donna Hensley officiating. Interment will follow at Pope's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 3, 2021, 9:30 am - 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
