Anna Allegro Ellison, 77, of Cropwell, Alabama passed away on January 22, 2021. Anna was born in Kingsport, Tennessee. She graduated from Sylacauga High School and Livingston University. She received her Master's Degree in Education from Montevallo University. Anna taught in the Birmingham area for 29 years. After retiring she continued working with special needs children in the St. Clair County area. Anna touched the lives of so many young people. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church for 46 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Idoma Blanks and James Abernathy, and Augusta "Gus" Allegro; and by her sister, Angela Foster. She is survived by a very loving husband of 61 years, Gene Ellison; her daughter, Karen Bain Jones (Bill); her two sons, Ron Ellison (Petra) and Thad Ellison (Christy); six grandchildren, Adam Bain (Kelsey), Alexis Bain, Trey Ellison, Willie Ellison, Ashley Ellison, and Abbey Ellison; one great-grandchild, Sawyer Bain; and three sisters. Anna lived a full life, enjoying fishing, traveling, coaching young people (volleyball, softball, track...), but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She was deeply loved by her husband and family and will be greatly missed. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Valley Hill Memorial Gardens with The Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Sexton and Pete Rich officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Condolences may be offered online at www.usreyfuneralhome.com.
