Obituary of Charles Norman "Bud" Culver Jr.

Talladega - Charles Norman “Bud” Culver Jr. passed away peacefully on January 18th 2021 at Citizen Brookwood Baptist Medical Center. Funeral service for Mr. Culver will be Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Usrey Funeral Home with Don Barnett and Michael Jones officiating. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. Interment will be at Pine Hill Memorial Park. Norman, affectionately known by his family and friends as “Bud”, was born in Huntsville Alabama and was a resident of Talladega since 1987. He was a long time employee of The Alabama Industries for the Blind. Norman was a musician from a young age and other than his family and his church, music was his greatest passion in life. He left a legacy of advocating for individuals with vision loss. These endeavors included his longtime membership in The Lions Club, The Alabama School for the Blind Alumni and Workers Association, and The Alabama Chapter of the American Council for the Blind. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends, both of whom he loved greatly. Bud is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Debra Dial Culver; his children, Joey Culver (Ellen), Jennifer Reeves (Princeton); his grandchildren, Aly Culver, Lennon Culver; his siblings, Randy Culver (Mary), Mae Mayer (Steve) and Linda “Rookie” West. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles, N. Culver Sr.; mother, Stella Culver; brother, Jimmy Culver; sisters, Betty Armstrong and Renee Fulghum. Pallbearers will be Steve Reaves, Neal McGarity, Roy Granger, David Trott, Billy Sparkman, Princeton Reeves, Bill Haynes, and Ronald Garrett. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Fulghum, Dennis Perkins, Clarence Haynes, and Windell McMichen.
