Obituary of Jim "Geo" Parton

Please share a memory of Jim to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
C.B. “Jim” Parton, known by many as Jim and Geo, left his Bemiston home of nearly 70 years, to meet Jesus in his eternal home in Heaven on Sunday afternoon, January 17, 2021. Sunday afternoon naps between church services were routinely common and the perfect vehicle to The Promised Land, peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday January 20, 2021 at 2:00pm at Stockdale Baptist Church; Bro. Kevin Jones and Bro. David Gaither will officiate the services and burial immediately thereafter. He is survived by his sister, Hazel Lybrand; his brothers, Norman and Cecil Parton; grandchildren, Jeromy (Candi) Gaither; Danny Gaither; Great Grandchildren: Tabitha Gaither, Brittany (Joey) Webber, and Tyler (David) Belcher; and four little Great-Great Grandsons, Abel Gaither, Curtis Webber, Hollis Webber, and Greyson Belcher. Jim had a slew of nieces and nephews of whom were very close. A lot of his and Mable’s last years were graced by his dear nieces, Gloria Parton Bannister (Danny) and Sandra Parton Pope. . Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mable Parton; daughter, Linda Parton (Sharpe); his parents, John & Katie Parton; sisters, Luna Matthews, Bonnie Blankenship; brothers: Marvin “Alvis” Parton, Tommy Parton, Vernon Parton, S.A. “Littlen” Parton, and Lecil Parton. Jim Parton was born in Ohatchee, AL, but his family moved to Talladega County early in life. He remained in Talladega County for the duration. Jim was married to Mable Gaither for 70 years before Mable passed away in January 2019. Bro. Jim was always involved in coaching and organizing baseball and softball events for all of the youth in Bemiston and Stockdale Community. He loved Alabama football and the Atlanta Braves, always following the recruiting, trades, and coaching changes. Jim devotedly served as a Deacon of Stockdale Church for well over 60 years— His love and dedication to The Lord, his church, family, and friends was exemplary. He was a Sunday School Teacher for many years; and many of his well taught lessons are still reviewed by a vast array of his pupils. Jim spent most of his career in the wood timber business doing repairs for all sorts of timber debarking systems. He worked for Kockums, Soderhamn, and later for Woodland Parts, located in Talladega. However, much of his work involved travel all over the United States and Canada, yet most of the millions of miles he [embarked] on, were regionally located near much of the South’s timber mills. Jim Parton will be dearly missed by the countless lives that he touched over the years. His Love knew no limits and devotion knew no bounds. Pallbearers will be Schafer Griffin, Doug Heath, Jenkie Roberts, Lance Weldon, Steve Weldon, and Benny Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons of Stockdale Baptist Church, Rex Gaither, Russ Parton, Greg Parton, Johnny Parton, Mike Parton, and dear friend Blake Haney, currently deployed Army National Guard.
