Obituary of Shirley Stephens Hunt

Mrs. Shirley Hunt, 81, of Ashville, passed away December 31st, 2020 at her residence. Mrs. Hunt was born in Madison County, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, Garland and Leona Stephens and her son John E. Hunt. She was a member of Ashville First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. Mrs. Hunt graduated from Madison County High School and Jacksonville State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She retired after 25 years teaching Elementary School. She touched the lives of so many children and parents. Mrs. Hunt is survived by her high school sweetheart and her husband of 63 years, Rev. Billy F. Hunt, Daughter Lynn (Mark) Wilson, Son Scott (Sharon) Hunt, and Daughter-In Law Elizabeth Treece Hunt. She is also survived by her seven beloved grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. One of her greatest joys in life was watching her grandchildren participate in sporting events and being there to enjoy their accomplishments. Pallbearers will be Ryan Hunt, Seth Hunt, Chris Kemp, Kyle Randolph, John Sykes, Cade Peek and Wilson Strickland. The Family of Mrs. Hunt has requested that anyone who plans to attend please wear a face covering. The family also wants everyone to know flowers are welcome, also In lieu of flowers please make donations to First Baptist Ashville building fund. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 5th, 2020 from 10:30 to 1:00 at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City, with funeral services to follow with Dr. Jay Stewart and Rev. Kenneth Miller officiating.
